The Shepherd’s Table: A Special Ministry of The First Baptist Church of Wakefield

The Shepherd's Table dinner ministry provides a hot meal once a month to help those in need. We began in January 2009, and now serve more than 7 times the number of people we did when we started. Our full dinners usually include soup, salad, several dinner choices, dessert, and beverages.

Our dinners are currently served on the fourth Monday of each month from 5-6pm.

How individuals, churches, and businesses can help:

  • Donate heavy-weight paper goods for the table setting
  • Donate your time to help prepare the meal, serve, or set up
  • Bring a church group to prepare the meal for the evening
  • Donate financially

How restaurant business owners can help:

  • Donate part or all of the meal for the dinner, beverage, or dessert
  • Donate financially
  • Ask workers to donate their time

Checks may be written to FBC Wakefield, memo line "Shepherd's Table." Send to PO Box 1726, Wakefield, MA 01880.

Thank you also to the many individuals in the church and community who have donated time, money, and items to The Shepherd's Table ministry.

Mission of Deeds

We collect household items in good condition for the Mission of Deeds in Reading, which provides these items to the homeless and those in need. Donations of linens, kitchenware, children’s books, DVDs, and clean stuffed animals can be left in the labeled box in Fellowship Hall. If you have larger furniture items, view this page for drop-off hours.

Seafarer's Friend

Seafarer's Friend is an organization that offers support and encouragement to sailors in the New England region. We collect items for sailors' ditty bags (cloth bags for personal belongings/tools). Items such as warm men's outwear clothing, heavy work gloves, hand-knitted hats, and toiletries may be left in our Fellowship Hall.

Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry

Our church founded and housed Wakefield's Food Pantry until it outgrew us and moved to the Amerial Civic Center. We still collect non-perishable items for the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry. You can place donations in the food container in Fellowship Hall. Items of particular need include coffee, shelf stable milk, boxed pasta, mayonnaise, and vegetable oil.

Tithes and Offerings

Our missions budget supports a number of local, national, and global ministries. We also collect a communion offering each month to meet a special need in our community or around the world.
